If you have a large yard, then you know how much longer everything takes. You’ve probably already invested in a riding lawnmower and in-ground sprinkler system. Here are some other tools that are essential for keeping your yard in pristine condition.

5 Essential Lawn Tools for the Large Georgia Yard

1. Smart Control Water System

Smart control water systems don’t run on timers. They run on demand. They use information from sensors, weather forecasts, and information about your yard to deliver the right amount of water at the right time. Your lawn probably only needs about 1 inch of water a week, and you’ll waste much less water with a system like this. When you consider how much water can be wasted on the scale of a large yard, this is significant.

2. Leaf Shredder

You may have your mower set up to mulch leaves, or maybe you have a big composting bin. Either way, a leaf shredder can be an invaluable tool to the large property owner. If your lawnmower is mulching, you’ll still have leaves in garden beds and blown into the corners of fencing and sides of the house. If you have a composting bin, then shredding leaves will give you rich, composted dirt much more quickly than tossing in full-sized leaves. Shredded leaves also work as immediate mulch layers for the garden.

3. Outdoor Sweeper

It seems that most garden projects end up with a mess on sidewalks and driveways, but this can be a simple cleanup project with an outdoor sweeper. Outdoor sweepers create minimal dust, and they can pick up large items like garbage or yard debris. Cleaning is never fun, but power tools are always fun, and an outdoor sweeper makes the cleanup process more rewarding.

4. Gas/Battery Trimmer

For large yards, you need a gas weed eater with power. This means investing in a 2- or 4-cycle trimmer that can handle the job. 2-cycle trimmers are lighter, but 4-cycle trimmers are quieter. Consider your comfort needs when choosing your trimmer. Definitely don't go for corded versions. Your yard is too big. However, there are some nice battery options now too that are quiet and lightweight.

5. Motorized Wheelbarrow

Many people have traditional wheelbarrows. Those wheelbarrows get heavy when covering long distances. As a result, you end up not filling them to capacity. This way you can continue to journey back and forth with it until the job is done. Not so with motorized wheelbarrows. There are a number of options when it comes to this type of equipment, but they are especially helpful when moving heavier items like gravel or sod.
