One such disease that may infect your lawn is dollar spot disease. The symptoms that you will notice if your lawn has the disease are circular patches of brown colored patches that turn yellowish. These circular patches are generally a few inches wide and can spread all over your lawn. After some time the circles may begin to join together and make irregular shaped spots. You may notice lesions on the blades of grass that have a red-brown border.

Some of the conditions that typically lead to your lawn experiencing a case of dollar spot disease is day time temperatures of about sixty to eighty degrees, cool nights and heavy morning dew. Intense or moderate levels of humidity can also increase the chances your lawn will show signs of dollar spot disease.

What can you do to prevent dollar spot disease in your own lawn? It is best to ensure that the soil is not too wet or too dry. Practice deep irrigation no more than once a week and avoid frequent, short watering schedules. Water in the early morning as this allows for the grass to dry during the day. It is also important to fertilize your lawn properly. Levels of nitrogen in the soil are important to keep balanced as many diseases can attack your lawn when the soil is too rich in nitrogen. Dollar spot can be treated and grown out with a high nitrogen fertilizer application, this is a good alternative to a fungicide applications.
