Enjoying Nature In Your Cumming, Georgia Backyard: Birds Edition

There are some basic joys in life that should be utilized more for their cheerful, lovely, and entertaining values. One of those joys is watching birds in the backyard.bird-feeder-2344414_1920.jpg For those that are lucky enough to have the space, time, and money to provide birds with feeders, seed, and lavish baths, it is even easier to be entertained by these quirky little creatures.

The good news is, you don’t really need a ton of space, expensive items or gourmet seed mixes to attract birds to your yard where you can enjoy them from the windows of your home. If you have a back deck, or a front porch, depending where you want the birds to visit, it can be a great way to start your morning. Sip your morning coffee and enjoy birdsong and their little hops and activities with a smile.

It can be a great family activity as well! Personally, one of the best memories was sleeping on the trampoline with my sisters and waking up to the little birds that lived in the birdhouses we painted chattering and flying about. If you have young kids it can be a great way to get them excited and involved in creating a backyard that is bird friendly if you have them help you paint pre-made houses from a craft store, or help you make your own!

 Decorating Outdoor Your Living Space

As for purchasing bird feed, it doesn’t have to be expensive. Visit your local garden shop and take a look at their selection. Typically, the stores in your area will carry blends that are made specifically for bird species common to your area. If you have questions, feel free to ask some employees or experts that are on hand. Most stores will have large bags of mixed birdseed that offer a variety of treats to different birds. If you are looking to attract specific types of birds be sure to read the packaging and do a bit of research before opting for just any mixed bag. The range in price for birdseed is pretty large, so you should be able to find the right fit for your budget.

An added benefit of making your backyard or property a place birds enjoy visiting is that they are natural predators for many of the bugs, insects, or small rodents that like to cause problems on your land. Birds will make a feast out of grubs or beetles, and if you attract the right ones, you can say goodbye to any mice or voles that were previously hanging out!
