Are you battling your current lawn? Do you have weeds that are thriving instead of grass that is growing? If you have thatch that is out of control or your soil is completely out of whack when it comes to providing appropriatereplanting lawn.jpg nutrients to your turf, it may be a sign that you should take the time to replant your lawn. This sounds like a lot of work, but it doesn’t have to drive you crazy or take a ridiculous amount of time, either.

If you have given up on your current grass and are ready to take the steps to planting a new lawn, here are some of the basic steps to guide you on your way. First, you have to be willing to get rid of your old lawn, completely and thoroughly. One of the best and most efficient ways to do this is to use grass and weed killer a week before you are ready to take it out. The grass and weeds will die and be easier to remove.

After the lawn is dead, set your mower to the lowest setting and bag up all of the clippings and dead stuff that you can. Dispose of it properly to avoid spreading any weed seeds that may start growing elsewhere. Soften the soil by rototilling it and rake out all the roots and plants that are left. If necessary, take the time to do a thorough soil test and apply the appropriate fertilizer and substances to rejuvenate your soil composition. Making sure your soil can provide the necessary nutrients to your lawn is a vital part to growing a healthy and lovely lawn. After this is done, take the time to level out and smooth the soil to make the lawn flat and even.

7 Lawn Care Myths that can Mess with Your Lawn

The next step is to plant the new lawn. Of course, you will have wanted to do the appropriate research to choose the best lawn seed for your needs. You will want to talk to professionals at your local lawn care store in order to choose a seed that grows well in your area and isn’t susceptible to many common diseases. You can also look at the grass’s characteristics such as blade width and care needed to maintain it once it is planted.

Once you have the right seed, spread it evenly over your lawn and cover it with an organic mulch to help keep the seeds from blowing away or washing out. After this, you will need to water it according to your seeds instructions. As long as you are careful to give your baby lawn the attention and love it needs, you should see a new lawn sprouting up and growing in a few weeks.
