Summer Family Fun in the Lawn in Canton, GA

Posted by Christine Crandall on Apr 24, 2020 9:45:00 PM

This spring and summer, many of us are turning to our lawns for recreational activities due to stay-at-home orders or recommendations. The beaches and parks may be open at some locations, but it is uncertain if they will remain open. At least you have a lawn to get your daily dose of vitamin D. This summer may not be filled with a lot of family vacations (hopefully it will), but you can still have some summer family fun in the lawn.

5 Ideas for Summer Family Fun in the Lawn

  1. Water Activities: We use water activities in a broad sense because the type of activity will depend on your family demographics. Slip-and-slides, water balloon volleyball, pools, and misters can amount to a fun time for kids, teenagers, and adults!
  2. Movie Night: There are many DIY options for creating a movie screen if you have a projector (like a white bed sheet). There are also inflatable and other portable options available. Put some lawn chairs or big throw pillows out in the lawn, and eat some popcorn while watching your favorite film on a warm night.
  3. Sports: You can participate in sports of some type no matter how big or small your yard is. You don’t even have to be in shape to do it. If you are very active and have the space, any field sport is great for your family and your health. If you are limited in health or space, try a smaller sport. Even a game of cornhole is great for family unity and your health because you are getting outside.
  4. Fire Pit: Summer evenings are warm enough to stay outdoors, but nothing makes them better than a cozy fire. Invest in a contained fire pit for your patio, or make one in your lawn. Sitting around it during summer evenings is something you’ll look back and remember fondly with your family.
  5. Garden: Even if you’re the only gardener in the family, the whole family reaps the rewards. If it is flowers, it will get your family outside more often. If it is veggies, they’ll be out picking. Gardening is a family activity no matter who puts in the work.

Summer Family Fun in the Lawn

The worst thing you can do in the summer is spend it indoors. Making time for summer family fun, no matter how busy your schedule is, will make it memorable. The memories made with your family outside are unforgettable, and they are one of the greatest reasons to take care of your lawn.
