Surviving Winter When You Hate The Cold

Posted by Greenfeet Lawncare on Feb 6, 2018 9:28:39 PM

Let’s be honest, not everyone loves the snow and the cold that winter often brings to many places in the United States. If you are lucky enough to escape all this, you better keep it a secret or you are going to have a lot more neighbors soon!grass-549064_1280.jpg Once the weather changes to cold, rainy-slush, or eventually snow, there is not a lot for people that do not like the cold to do outside. Many people spend almost all their time indoors trying to stay warm and dry! We put together a few tips to help you survive the cold weather and stay sane until you can get back outside and enjoy the beautiful lawn and garden that you have!

Indoor Gardening

Those that really like to do yard work or gardening are really out of luck until the spring thaw and the weather warms up to appropriate growing temperatures. The good news is, you can try indoor gardening to help you scratch that itch until the seasons change! Do a bit of research on how to grow indoor herbs and other plants to brighten up the dreary winter.

Brighten Things Up

Going along with the one above, take some time to brighten up your home, and even your wardrobe. Instead of wearing darker colors, add in pops of color to make the world seem a little brighter! Try to find a bright colored blanket or one with a pretty pattern to snuggle up with. The extra fun colors can make life feel a little bit better.

Beat Your Dry Skin And Hair Problems

This one really helps to make winter more bearable. The skin and hair problems that many people face in the winter are annoying! Plus, they don’t make for pretty skin or hair styles. To help with the dry skin, remember to moisturize with a high quality lotion after you pat dry from your shower. If you are really struggling with your dry skin, try taking a bath with a few drops of essential oils and some olive oil. For your hair, take the time to deep condition, use high quality hair products, and for those really staticky days, try rubbing a fresh dryer sheet on your head. Weird, but it can really help.

Plan For Spring

Another great way to help you push through those last few months of winter is to plan for the spring. Draw out and plan your garden for the next year, think about any yard or garden projects you want to take on, make some travel plans for when the roads are clear and the weather is better.
