There are many flowers that do well in the Georgia climate, the hard part is narrowing down which ones you like the most! To get your mind going, here are a few sweet options to consider adding to your property.

1.Columbine Flowers

This delicate looking, bell-shaped flowers that nod downwards, come in a variety of shades and hues (pink, purple, yellow,...). Hummingbirds may frequent your flowers once they bloom in early summer, if you choose to plant these sweet flowers. This perennial plant grows up to three feet in height and will grace any flowerbed or garden you place it in. Columbines do the best in well-drained soil that is moist and rich.

2. Sunflowers

What would summer be without some bright, lovely sunflowers? There are varieties that grow to be towering eight foot flowers, or dwarf varieties that you can grow to reach only about two feet tall or so. Some sunflower heads can grow up to be nearly 12 inches in diameter! For them to grow best, they like full sun areas and soil that is well-drained.

3. Poppies

Funny enough, California Poppies do well in Georgia! These bright, lovely flowers that come in red, orange and yellow colors like areas with full sun and do better during dry spells than they do in wet ones. They don’t love soils that are heavy in clay, so make sure to contact professionals to help you improve your soil quality if necessary.
