5 Lawn Care Hacks to Make Your Projects Cheap and Convenient

If you own a home, then you understand the concept of never-ending projects. This can be a thrilling part of home ownership, but some things leave the home in a consistent state of limbo. If your projects are getting in the way of you enjoying your yard, and you’re more excited for the project to be over than the results of the project, consider these 5 lawn care hacks.

5 Lawn Care Hacks to Make Your Projects Convenient

1. Tarp: The first lawn care hack is the use of a tarp. Tarps are traditionally used to cover truckloads. If you pick up a load of mulch or drop off yard debris, you’ll need one. The annoyance comes from the truckload. Not only are large loads difficult to dump, but if you are picking up a load, your truck is out of commission until it is emptied. Use a tarp underneath your load, so you can quickly remove whatever is in your truck bed, and use a tarp on the ground to leave your load near your project. This frees your truck to be used for other things while the project is ongoing.

2. Bucket: One of the biggest inconveniences of lawn projects is clean up. You may finish a project only to find that you have to spend another 20 minutes picking up little bits of trash or lawn debris in order to make your project complete. This is why it’s always handy to keep a bucket nearby to limit clean up to its dumping.

3. Milk Jugs: Keep a few milk jugs around for random uses. They can be made into mini greenhouses if you’ve planted your vegetable garden too early. They can also be disposable watering cans and can be used for throw-away containers if mixing fertilizers or herbicides in order to avoid contamination of permanent vessels.

4. 2'x4': A simple board can be very useful when edging. Use a long 2’x4’ as a guide, and you’ll have straight lines with very little effort.

5. PVC pipe: This pipe is not only inexpensive, but it can be used to get into hard-to-reach places. Use it as a funnel to apply nutrients to thick bushes that are impossible to reach, and use it with a mirror or a small rake to clean out gutters.

Take Away Project Annoyance

With a little effort and foresight, your project can continue for any length of time without being a major annoyance. After all, as soon as you finish one, there will be another, so you might as well enjoy life while that happens.
