markandmarkmowing.jpgYou pull the mower out of the garage and notice it is not mowing like it used to. The lawn is uneven and just looks bad, not that high quality you were expecting this spring. The guys in the neighborhood are going to be giving you the business, about how bad it looks. What do you do? Here are a few things you may want to check.

Some of the things listed below may be obvious to the avid lawn mowing aficionado, but to the novice there may be some helpful hints on what to check to make your lawn look its best.

1. Check your blade and make sure it is sharp. Your blade should be sharpened every year at least. If you purchase a new blade make sure to get it sharpened, they are sold dull.

2. If you have a tractor make sure to check the air pressure in your tires and they are inflated correctly. If you have solid tires on your push mower make sure they are not worn out and need replacing.

3. Make sure the blade is not bent or the mowing deck is not tweaked or bent. Have you hit something lately? You may need to replace the deck or bend it back if you can.

Also be sure to do a tune up every year changing the fluids, spark plug, air cleaner, and belts. Check these areas and if you are still having issues seek help at your local repair shop.
