Being in the lawn care industry here in Atlanta, GA, I love plants and flowers. Giving fresh cut flowers to loved ones for Valentine’s Day is great, but have you ever considered giving a plant? A plant with proper care can last years compared to flowers that last a week. Here are 6 great plants that will make anyone smile on Valentine's Day.
Many of the local Alpharetta florists and online florists offer plants for delivery or if you are delivering them in person try a local nursery. You can purchase blooming flowers, small house plants, bonsai trees, and bulbs. Here are some great plant ideas that can be easily found locally and online.
Gardenia Bonsai – this bonsai plant provides beauty and fragrance that will make 
your house or office smell terrific. I sent this to my grandmother a few years ago and she loved it.
Heart Shaped Bamboo - Considered a traditional symbol of luck and good fortune, the heart shaped bamboo plant is a sweet way to express your feelings on Valentine’s Day. This plant will live a long time and can be grown in low light. 
Peace Lily - Bring a sense of calm and serenity to their day with a Peace Lily. It has deep green foliage and striking white flowers, this plant has the ability to clean and purify the air indoors, making it a very common houseplant.
Tulips – are a bulb plant and provide beautiful color. Once the blooms die off they can be stored and transplanted outside for continuous color year after year.

300 years, making it unique Valentine's Day gift and it will last a very long time. Nothing says I love you like a prickly cactus.
Star Magnolia – A Star Magnolia would make a wonderful addition to anyone’s yard. They can be found at local nurseries here in North Metro Atlanta, such as Scottsdale Farms, in Milton. The Star Magnolia will flower every spring with beautiful white star like flowers. Easy to maintain and can be trimmed back to maintain a manageable size or left to grow larger.
