Last week we started talking about simple ways to start adding some festivity to your yard and the exterior of your home to welcome in the coming holidays. This can be something that becomes a family tradition that the whole family xmas lights.jpgenjoys, or it can be something you enjoy doing by yourself or with a special person. Decorating for the holidays doesn’t have to be something crazy and expensive, it can be simple, elegant, and budget-friendly.

Last week we started with the basics. Start with your front door, find something decorative and welcoming, like a holiday wreath to inspire guests and remind them of the giving season. Second, think about adding some exterior Christmas lights to brighten things up and light up the season! Here are a few more ideas to help you get excited about the season without worrying about your wallet!

Consider adding some culturally celebrated holiday classics!

This is a fancy way of saying, you might want to find a decently priced Rudolf the Red-nosed Reindeer decoration for your yard or roof, or maybe a Santa Claus to place near the chimney. Don’t worry if you don’t have the money for the huge, flashy, and moving pieces. Simplicity is something to celebrate. Don’t feel pressured into using the commercialized pieces either, let your individuality show through and put up the decorations that are special or classic to you and your family.

Garland and bows.

Yep, bring the fun outside! Garland can be a great way to spice up porches, mailboxes, and railings! Consider placing large red or glittery bows along the garland to add something special to it, or wrap lights around the garland as well! Bows are an effortless, inexpensive, and lovely addition when it comes to decorating for the holidays. You can use red ones, silver or gold ones, or really whatever you really like.

Flowerbed and walkway decorations.

It can be fun to add a bit of festivity to your walkways and flowerbeds along your house. There are great options for small Christmas pieces that poke into the ground to keep them in place. If you don’t want to buy them, consider getting creative with what you have and design your own pieces! Create wire elves or reindeer to place near your walkways! Add a bow about the reindeers’ necks to make it extra adorable!
