While it is true, that our main goal is to help you keep your lawn green as well as truly healthy, we want you to be successful in all your backyard endeavors, including your flower beds and garden spaces. The overall feel and ambience of avegetable-garden-890625_1280.jpg backyard can be somewhat lost when it comes to having an unsuccessful flower bed or garden space clearly visible from the outdoor living areas. For these reasons, we put together a simple tip list for when you are thinking about starting your own vegetable garden! Enjoy and good luck!

Plan it in advance.

You might be wondering why we are talking about gardening in the fall. While there are some things you can grow with great success during the fall, we wanted to help you get a jump on planning your garden for next year. When you think about things in advance and plan ahead for what you intend to do, you have more time to take care of all the little things. Think about where your garden is going to be, what you want to grow, and if the soil needs any amendments and fertilizer this fall to be ready. A simple soil test will help you get started in the right direction!

Don’t get carried away.

This happens to a lot of people, you get excited about your garden and then suddenly you want to grow everything and you end up trying to do too much. Instead of getting carried away with the fun, think about what you really want to grow, what you would use most, and how easy different produce is to grow successfully. Select an appropriate number of plants for you and the space you have before going to the store and buying way too many.

 Prepare Garden for Winter

Fertilizer, compost, and watering.

All important things, in the correct amounts and when you use the right products. Stay away from the trap of using too much fertilizer. It is tempting to think that more fertilizer means happier and bigger plants, but too much fertilizer will burn your vegetables, just like it will burn your grass. Compost can be a huge benefit to helping keep your garden growing well, without having to resort to chemical fertilizers. When it comes to watering, do so with knowledge of what your plants need. Watering too much and watering too little are both dangerous for your plants!
