Furnishing and decorating your outdoor living space can be as fun as decorating the interior of your home. Especially with the hot summer days and breezy nights, you may want to be spending some of your time enjoying the outdoors. backyard decor greenfeet.jpgTo help you do so we talked last week about incorporating statues, lawn ornaments, and design pieces into your landscape. We also mentioned what a well place water feature can do to set the mood of your outdoor living space, and the decorative and useful properties of planter pots. To keep you inspired and making your backyard and garden areas your own, here are a few more favorite ideas to get you started!

Give The Illusion Of Age

Those really impressive gardens are the ones that are manicured and well taken care of, but also that give off the feeling they have been growing forever. To help achieve this type of look, fill in areas with plants that are going to spread out and cover the ground and even ones that will grow up fences and statues you have placed in your yard. Another great way is to find ornaments and decor that are already aged like a cute, rusty lantern or a bird bath that celebrates the old world. Mix in some history and culture by incorporating things from your travels as well!

Throwing Successful Backyard Party

Gates And Arches For Garden Entrances And Exits

The mystery and intrigue that comes from a garden that is marked with an intricate gate or arch with spirling vines and leaves crawling up its sides is one that is going to catch your guests’ attention. Marking out a path or entrances with such decor brings a subtle feeling of elegance and flavor to your outdoor living space. Brighten up the entrance with potted flowers or small trees around it. Show your character with your designs!

Outdoor Furnishings

The best way to finish off your new look is to incorporate appropriate furnishing that celebrates and ties in the overall scheme and colors of your decor. Choose a well-made patio set that will wear well in the outdoors. Keep in mind the things your backyard needs in particular. If you are going to set the furniture in areas that gets mostly sunlight, choosing a set that is resistant to fading in the sun is an important part of your choice. If you are trying to block out some of the sun for your patio area, find a set that includes a large umbrella to shade you as you enjoy your outdoors!
