Being a homeowner is a wonderful thing, but it also comes with a lot of responsibility. You get to take care of not only the house, but the property as well! Doing so increases or keeps the value of your home closer to what you purchased it for.beautiful yard.jpg There are certain steps that you can take in order to keep the value of your home and property high. These simple things don’t have to be scary or very expensive. For a lot of people, just making some simple changes to their home and lawn can really increase their lot’s curb appeal. Here are just a few tips that we put together to help you get started!

Make a statement with your front door.

The entryway to your home can say a lot about you and your family. Be conscious of the colors you choose to paint your home and what color of door you may be considering. Red is a bold and lovely color, while dark blue or green gives off more of a subtle and inviting vibe. Take a look at your front door, porch area, and what surrounds it. Find a color that you love and matches your surroundings or compliments the other colors near there.

Keep a nice and tidy lawn and flower beds.

This is a big one. Any home that has a messy, dead or dying lawn and property loses a lot value and curb appeal until it is cleaned up and taken care of. Take some time to throw away trash, rake out fence lines, and get rid of weeds that have taken up residence around your home. Make sure to keep the lawn mowed appropriately and learn a good watering schedule to keep everything green.

Things to Avoid in the Fall

If you have little time for lawn care, it may be a good idea to look into hiring a lawn care company for some basic care and help if you are having trouble getting your lawn whipped into shape.

Give your property some shape and visual interest.

There are a few ways to really add some interest to your home and property without going crazy. The first is to find great places to plant some trees or shrubbery. Taking the time to do a bit of landscaping can really make your property feel special and loved. Add in some flower beds that are mulched, a rock garden, or a new sidewalk to really spice things up.
